Recognitions of Study Achievements and Practical Training

You have completed a study achievement (ECTS) outside of your regular degree programme and would like to have this recognised? You would like to have a practical training approved and recognised? You will find all the necessary information here!

How do I apply for recognition?
First, you have to create a recognition via the app "Recognitions/Achievement supplements" in UNIGRAZonline, then you must submit the application to gewi.anerkennung(at)uni-graz.at.

How can I get a practical training (abroad) approved and recognised?
Form and further information.

Please note:

  • When switching to a newer curriculum version, you will need to reassign your study achievements via the UNIGRAZonline app "My Degree Programme (Curriculum Support)". If it is not possible for you to assign the completed study achievements to their equivalent positions in your new curriculum there, you will need to apply for recognition of these achievements.
  • If you change to a new degree programme (with a new study programme code number), you will have to apply for recognition regardless.
  • Bachelor's and master's theses cannot be recognised.
  • Recognitions for study achievements completed before admission to a degree programme must be applied for within the first two semesters of enrolment.

How do I submit an application for recognition?
Simply creating a recognition in UNIGRAZonline will not yet count as having submitted your application for recognition. In addition to this, you will need to e-mail your application to gewi.anerkennung(at)uni-graz.at. Showing up at the dean’s office in person will not accelerate the processing of your documents.

Do you have any questions regarding recognitions?

If you have any questions regarding the recognition process, please contact the chairperson of the curriculur committee (CuKo chairperson) responsible for your field of study.

Examination recognitions are pursuant to § 78 Universitites Act 2022 and § 63 (9) Universities Act 2022.

Procedure and processing time

After submitting your application for recognition to the dean's office (send an e-mail or drop it into the mailbox in front of the dean's office), the request will be checked, recorded and submitted to the chairperson of the curricular committee for approval.

Average processing time: approx. 3 to 6 weeks
Max. legally allowed processing time: 2 months

Recognition notification

Once the recognition notification has been signed by the chairperson of the curricular committee, you will be notified via e-mail (to the e-mail address provided to each student by the University of Graz).
