This project aims to advance the current formal syntactic-semantic-pragmatic theory of EVIDENTIALITY by using a 3-way (“3-D”) improvement over previous approaches: (i) investigating the whole paradigm of forms rather than a subset thereof; (ii) using a combination of scientific methodologies; (iii) going beyond simple declarative clauses and testing diverse linguistic environments. 

This multidimensional approach allows building a more comprehensive empirical understanding of the phenomenon that will in turn feed a more accurate theoretical model than the existing ones. The output will not only address existing debates but also set a novel research agenda for the field by establishing previously untapped connections between phenomena.
