The FWF project P37209 "The Second Way", based at the University of Graz and headed by Martin Hummel, brings together researchers from the Universities of Graz, Granada, Cluj-Napoca, Franche-Comté, Neuchâtel, Helsinki and Naples as well as the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy in Bonn. The research focuses on the morphosyntactic, semantic and functional properties of adverbial prepositional phrases consisting of a preposition and an adjective and their adjective-adverb cognates in primary Romance dialects. Primary Romance dialects are Romance languages that developed directly from Latin and have not been developed into modern standard languages (such as Spanish, Italian or French). The dialects analysed are Mirandese (Portugal), Asturian (Spain), Campanian and Sicilian (Italy), Franco-Provençal (Italy, Switzerland, France) and two Daco-Romance dialects (Sarmizegetusa, Măguri-Răcătău) in Transylvania (Romania).
