The five contemporaneous castles on the “Wildoner Schlossberg” offer a unique constellation of archaeological sources, including quantities of largely unpublished finds and excavation documentation from several decades up to recent 3D site and building surveys. The project examines the development of the individual castles on the strategically outstanding hillsite between the High Middle Ages and early modern times, their mutual relationships and influences as well as their supra-regional relationships and external networks as a central location among the castles of the south-eastern Alpine border region.
