Registration for the Doctoral Examination
The doctoral examination is the final examination before a committee in the doctoral degree programme. Once doctoral candidates pass this examination, they are awarded the academic title Dr/PhD.
Further details on the procedure (duration, number of examiners, etc.) are available in the curriculum of the specific doctoral degree programme.
Please fill out the registration form and send it at least two weeks before the examination via e-mail to the dean's office.

You can already apply for a specific doctoral examination date when you submit your doctoral thesis.

However, please note that all assessment reports must arrive at the dean's office at least two weeks before the examination date when coordinating the date with the three examiners (must have a teaching qualification).

The responsible (vice) dean of studies will appoint the chairperson of the examining committee.

The doctoral examination takes place in the meeting room GEWI or in another suitable room. Reservations are made by the person responsible at the dean's office.

According to § 79 (2) Universities Act 2002, the doctoral examination is open to the public, meaning that other people may come to listen in.

After the doctoral examination, you will receive your doctoral examination certificate via e-mail.
