In Classical Philology and in Greek Studies in particular, pseudepigraphical and anonymous texts are still an ‘elephant in the room’. Contrary to antiquity, however. Long time before the introduction of copyright, ownerless texts were the universal commons of all those who drew on them. And yet, authorless or pseudepigraphical texts remain a challenge for Greek literary history, since they resist its author-based gravitational center. As a result, they continue to be marginalized. COLLAPSE will tackle this problem, by providing a new methodological basis to re-locate authorless texts in Greek studies. Imperial Greek Literature in particular serves as a fertile ground to re-think the (an)onymized text production.
