The proposed study aims to investigate a still largely unknown area at the mouth of the Tiber River in Ostia antica. Aim: To evaluate epigraphic sources (still unpublished) together with archaeological, archaeometric and geomorphological investigations in order to trace the imperial building activity in the port city of Rome and its importance for the supply of the Urbs. In addition, the development of a new urban quarter, which developed into a center in the 3rd century AD through the building initiative of the imperial house and which is identified as the "Aurelian Forum" and survives in the Historia Augusta, will be investigated.
