About the Faculty
The Faculty of Humanities of the University of Graz is still undivided. This distinguishes it from comparable institutions at other Austrian universities. In accordance with the wishes of the faculty members and an integrative understanding of science, the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Graz covers the entire spectrum of historical, art historical, philosophical, literary and linguistic disciplines. It is thus one of the largest faculties in Austria.
This breadth and diversity offer excellent conditions for networking in research and teaching, for joint conferences and presentations. For decades, this diversity has been used in large-scale projects, in lecture series and in publications. The students are offered a broad view, the researchers have numerous interdisciplinary and subject-internal points of contact for their own projects.
The faculty management and dean's office are committed to the lived plurality of subject cultures at the humanities faculty and the diversity of the theoretical and methodological approaches of the researchers. The faculty management and dean's office want to promote scientific debate across disciplines, contribute to fruitful discussion structures and ensure a constructive basis for discussion between group interests, subject-related perspectives and social concerns.
